Breastplate of Righteousness

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  Ephesians 6:14-15
We as Christian Soldiers do not wrestle against flesh and blood (each other), our fight is with Satan who means to destroy God's children.

The U.S. Military uses bullet-proof vest (ballistics vest), which is the modern day version of the breastplate.  Provides soldiers with protection against bullets, projectiles, shrapnel and explosions. The strong, tightly woven fibers in a ballistic vest are designed to absorb a bullet’s impact.  Steering the deadly force away from vital organs such as the heart and lungs.

The Breastplate of Righteousness is similar.  As It Protects our Heart.  It protects our soul against the arrows (temptations & sins)  that Satan fires at us. Some might be wondering if these arrows can destroy us as Christians.  The answer is no. Once you gave your life over to Jesus it belongs to the kingdom.  Satan i believe knows this, and attacks Christian Soldiers for a different reason that i will explain further.

If your a Christian....then you are a target!  Yes, Satan has marked you as his enemy.  He knows that even if you die you are going where God is.  What Satan doesn't want is for you to help others to the Cross of Jesus, and a eternal life in Heaven.  So he fires arrows at you.  These arrows are normally in the form of temptations shot to your heart.  Temptations like; Pornography, drugs, greed with material things.  Satan also uses underlining temptations like: afflictions: illnesses, persecution from friends, arguments with family or spouse, and inciting financial difficulties.  There are many more specifics i could mention, but i hope you get the picture.  All of these and more are arrows will cause devastating wounds to our heart (soul) that are difficult to recover from.  More important it takes us off the battlefield where we should be sharing the gospel to the lost.  This is exactly Satan's game plan for Christians.  Then Christians go to the Hospital (church), and sometimes they don't come out.  There are crippled with fear, and doubt, and are ineffective to witness.

Our Commander in Chief Jesus Christ new Satan would do this (Genesis 3:15), and he new when he made us guardians of the Gospel we would need offensive and defensive weapons of protection on the battlefield. The Breastplate of Righteousness is a defensive weapon.  It is used like the bullet proof vest as a defense barrier protecting our soul from Satan's arrows of sin.  Matthew 26:41 says we are willing to serve Jesus but the body we are in is vulnerable to temptation attacks, and that combining prayer with alertness to temptation will lead to successful defeats of Satan's attacks. The strength of the Breastplate comes from the Trinity-God, Jesus, Holy Spirit. The Lord is our Righteousness Jeremiah 23:6.  It also comes by us walking in the  F.A.I.T.H. and L.O.V.E. we know in our Hearts. 1 Thessalonians 5:8 tells us to wear this faith and this love as our breastplate.  This means we put our trust in Jesus (Proverbs 3:5), or trust the way Jesus taught us, and we love like Jesus. (see the gospels).  In everyday life when a non-believer challenges you during your sharing of the Gospel don't fight back.....L.O.V.E. back.  The non-believer  most likely doesnt realize they are acting out the way the evil one wants, and you as a Christian Soldier should recognize that and L.O.V.E. through that.  This is how satan loses these battles....and i mean  loses when non-believers become believers by talking with Christians sharing the Gospel they guard in their heart (2Timothy 2:15)

The Devil does not like to lose, and thats is why he is on such an offensive in these last days....so....Satan will wait to find your weakness (1Peter 5:8), he has patience, and as i have said before he is an equal opportunity destroyer.  If you don't keep your sword sharpened (read bible daily), and if you don't keep the belt fastened with the breastplate (walking straight lined with Jesus) then Satan will find the weakness, and expose you.

As Christian Soldiers empowered by Jesus to be guardian of the Gospel we must be alert at all times, and all situations against enemies that are foreign and domestic.  I will explain that further in a teaching coming up entitled "Friendly Fire".   Until then....please watch either others back, and help uplift each other when you get knocked down by Satan (Galatians 6:2), and what he has against you in this world.  You are not alone in this war, don't let Satan make you feel that way.  Keep your breastplate in place to fend off Satan's arrows.

Lord willing until next time...for the Saints and for the Lamb!
